Critical Incident Day

Funded through Aimhigher, this event helps to raise awareness of Health and Social Care and Public Services careers. The event centres on a car accident scenario, whereby a child is knocked off a bicycle.

This scene is set up by Andover Fire Station and students begin the day by visiting the scene of the accident.  Students are also briefed on the Society, Health and Development Diploma.

The rest of the day sees students rotating around 5 different workshops, provided by the other agencies involved in such an incident.  This year this includes the Police, South Central Ambulance Service, Andover Hospital, Hampshire Fire & Resuce's Education Team and Ian Townsend, a Counsellor.  The day concludes with a debrief to collect thoughts on the situation and who, if anyone, was to blame.

The event will take place on 13th May at The Lights in Andover for students from John Hanson School and Winton School in Andover, Test Valley School in Stockbridge and The Connaught School in Farnborough.

Last year's event was nominated for a National Aimhigher Award.
